Hi Vanessa.

Great article, I just wrote one about creativity also.

It is so true that "Fear of failure hinders creativity" and if we can accept that we fail and we learn from it - that it is not the end when we do fail, then we don't stifle our creative momentum.

I love this:

"...as we further ourselves physically from the problem the more able we are to tackle that problem in a creative, innovative, and out of the box kind of way."

It makes so much sense! I'm a big fan of getting a change of scene—especially a physically active one, outside, on a walk—and am always telling people on Twitter who say they are feeling stuck to take a walk. It does help to have a sense for why this works, and how to leverage cognitive distance even more. Thanks for the insight!

The thank you goes both ways. Thank YOU. You inspire us to be more and go for more. It is up to you to make it happen, and YOU WILL make it so...I have no doubt. Better to have a positive outlook and make the leap, than be stuck in the sludge of negativity. Go for it!

Vanessa, it's true and no denying that you have huge potential to do great things...and to make a difference in the world doing it. One thing that you seem to do well is create community, which attests to the fact that you are in the right field! I'm excited to be part of your community, and watch you move forward to find your crossroads of passion and work. I'm also looking forward to exchanging ideas and laughs with you along the way!

YES! Yes you can, and yes you will :)

Thank you for making your passion for positive change explicit. Sometimes, I can think things and even say them all I want, but it isn't until I make them public in some way that I know I'm committed.

I can't wait to see what you do next!

Vanessa,

I hear ya! I think this is an important point:
"Some of us grow in solitude, pulling from within, but many of us value and seek communal growth." I've recently discovered that, as much as I enjoy alone time to reflect and do what I think of as "growing," my sharpest moments of growth have come through my connections with others. Similar to how babies learn language, having a human "mirror" to reflect off of can make all the difference.

Love the blog posts. I suspect you and I are traveling very similar paths at the moment...

All my best,
Phoebe

I love that! It's awesome that they are getting to opportunity to experience feedback from a young age. Plus that has to be incredibly helpful and have such an invaluable impact on their performance. I wish I had had more of those opportunities academically growing up. Not too mention it's great for you as a part and really gives you a more realistic look of whats going on throughout their education and day.
