a greater context

Beyond the small world of social media-oriented PR agencies and practitioners, where we all know and read each other…

Beyond the big agencies, with their islands in Second Life and me2Revolutions…

Out in the real world, at agencies and companies small medium and large, there is interest in blogging and social media. But not a lot of knowledge.

And that, my friends, is your opportunity.

In Susan Getgood’s recent post about “The future of PR” the theme of her post (and more specifically the excerpt above) holds a much greater context. To reiterate Susan’s sentiments, knowledge is the key, especially as the presence of social media grows and the tools available continue to be developed and reshaped.

But it’s more than just knowledge - it’s about an insatiable appetite. Knowledge about the present isn’t enough - it needs to be coupled with openness, curiosity and thirst for what’s to come. Because there will be more (so much more).

And with that perhaps the greatest opportunities and potential rests in the hands of those who take the time to not only understand the present, but also the future and the threads from the past that are continuous with it all.
